Tiles have come a long way since being discovered and used in ancient Babylon and Mesopotamia. The sun-dried bricks developed into those fired (more than one thousand degrees Celsius) bricks that had become one of the most durable objects around.
In those times, they were perfect for making temples, churches and other mega-places of worship. Some have lasted to these days and are predicted to last for another thousand years with all their beauty and grace intact.
Today, tiles are used in building constructions to cover such surfaces as floors, walls and roofs, even ceiling tiles, and drainage brocks. In many contexts, tiles in the current scene have become the main elements of style and aesthetic inside and outside of buildings.
Tile Wynnum have lasted this long and has been a part of materials that make up the present structural component of man’s civilization. All of these is their high performance, strong and robust nature, being waterproof (not prone to decay and deterioration), easy to clean, environmentally-friendly, and can be easy on the eyes.
Clay materials or inorganic raw materials in many forms are the main components in tile-making. There are tiles today that are also made of recycled materials and environmentally friendly.
In glazed or unglazed forms, they are inherently non-flammable and not affected by light at all. For the floors, each type has its own appearances, structures and benefits.
Like most other components in building and structures, getting the right tiles depends, on the size, budget, appearance and specifications of the project.
The following are some of the more familiar types of tiles being actively used in the construction business, with each type servicing its purpose.
These floor tiles are used to build floors. Usually, these tiles are square or rectangular. On the market these days are many other very attractive shapes.
Basically, these tiles are flat tiles. They come in many size but the thickness is between 12 millimeter and 50 millimeter. The floor tiles are expected to be hard enough to withstand the wear and tear caused by the load it takes on. They need to burn well and free of pebbles.
The tiles used to attach to the wall of the building are called (best tiles) wall tiles. Almost the same as the floor tiles, they also have a low compressive strength.
Likewise, they are available in many colors, sizes and shapes. They are very decorative and can also be used in places with a high probability of moisture.
The bricks attached to the inside of the roof, namely the ceiling, are called ceiling tiles. If you need specialists for ceramic tiles, use them for the ceiling tiles of buildings.
The ceiling tiles offer amazing architectural views in some.
The drain tiles are used for drainage in household and bigger structures. Their shapes can be circular, semicircular or segmented. Commonly, they are used to irrigate drainage ditches, domestic drainage ditches, or to drain rainwater outside the city.
Such drainage trenches are rarely used nowadays. There is now glass drainage pipes used for this purpose on the market.
These are the tires that cover buildings and houses. They are used mostly for sloping roofs.
Corrugated cardboard are used as ideal replacement for ordinary galvanized iron, corrugated cardboard and wood.
Typically, the roof tiles used need to be tight, easy to handle and hard enough. Installation of these tiles is easy and they are durable.
A rectangular tile with no deformation or cracks is called a flat tile. These tiles must have a consistent size and shape with two or more holes drilled into them. The holes help secure the tiles to the slats.
Installers make sure there is n adequate overlap on the sides and edges when doing the tiling. The compressive strength of the tile is pegged at no higher than 75 kg./sq.cm.
Pot of bricks
The bricks and tiles here are semi-circular hollow bricks with tapering dimensions in the longitudinal direction. The placement is such that their concave and convex surfaces are alternate to lock themselves.
They are also called locked tiles and they are ordinary stones with high absorption values.
However, they tend to crack and are not that durable.
All in all, the tiles have a wide variety of materials, sizes and colors with almost limitless design possibilities and a number of places they can be used. Aside from the pre-manufactured tiles, they can be custom-designed with the pattern, size and color dependent on your choice
Ceramic tiles that are dry-pressed are formed from a finely milled body mixture and are shaped at high pressure. This provides a very high level of strength that is like that of porcelain tiles.
These are best used for walls and backsplashes. The original clay material had been permanently hardened by heat to get that glazed look, alongside a wide variety of colors. T They also clean easily.
Color body porcelain
These tiles are created together with continuous colored stains from the glazed surface throughout the body of the tile. The visibility of any impact chips that may occur is lessened when the color of both the glaze and the body are synchronized.
Any surface design does not continue throughout the tile body but the color remains consistent throughout the tile. The color remains consistent throughout the tile.
Full body porcelain /Glazed porcelain
The full body porcelain is made using colored raw materials that permeate the whole tile.
It is actually the result of mixing uninterrupted color and the pattern features on the surface all the way through the tile body.
The glaze is a wear layer applied to the surface of the tile before it is being fired in a kiln. After the process, the glaze will take on either a shiny or matte finish.
Terra Cotta / Glass tile
The terra cotta maintains its reddish-brown clay appearance. Since they are not glazed, they are treated with a sealant to be effective on countertops, in backsplashes, or even the floors.
Glass tiles are noted for their beautiful depth and color glow. Because it is glass, it has limited uses but it is still excellent for backsplash or as wall accent.
Custom handcrafted tile
The hand-crafted, hand-printed, custom-designed tiles can now be made in almost any color, size and shape, as well as design by craftsmen who are into the old world manufacturing techniques.
They may be hard to find, even in Wynnum, but these custom handcrafted tiles are usually one of a kind and has a unique architecture. Often, they are reserved for high–end designs. Some high-end handmade tile companies usually make each of them unique individually.
Each part of the tile is glazed at the same time so that the dyeing is done on the whole lotin one go when installing. Those tiles that are in stock and commercially made are generally manufactured at different times.
You may be using tiles from the same collection, but they may be manufactures in a different batch. (There might crop up some problems with the lots not matching.) This is their biggest complaint so far.
